I bought this for my kids 3rd birthday. She had previously been on a kick bike and was now requesting pedals. I went to look at a few different bikes but I chose this one simply for the light weight, and of course the purple. The bike has such a light frame she had no issues once she sat on it...She was flying within minutes. Oh, I should mention that she never used the training wheels. She didn't need them. With the previous experience on her kick bike and the light weight of this bike she was flying on her own. (For obvious reasons I cant rate the training wheels). After 2 years it's now being passed on to my youngest. The bike is still in great shape after being heavily used. I would highly recommend this bike. It's pricey but overall, it is worth buying for an avid rider like my kids are.
